Most of the pages are matted together with dried blood and&lt;br&gt; impossible to read. Most of the rest are half rotted and&lt;br&gt; moldy. However, there are a few legible pages left. ...]&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;... is rough going. I've had to use my machete to hack a path through&lt;br&gt;thisdamnable jungle in the most haphazard way. A snake ate my compass&lt;br&gt;three days ago, and the jungle is so thick I couldn't get my bearings.&lt;br&gt;No doubt the path I cut through the jungle is meanders more than than&lt;br&gt;a bowl of spaghetti.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;[ 11th day of the 5th month of the 436th year ]&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I am starting to think that medicine man, or shaman, or whatever the&lt;br&gt;hell he was, has lead me on a wild goose chase. He claimed riches beyond&lt;br&gt;imagining north of this jungle. An ancient giant pyramid, abandoned&lt;br&gt;eons ago and full of treasures and unclaimed magic. I've been over&lt;br&gt;every inch of this jungle, and all I've found are plants, birds, snakes,&lt;br&gt;natives, bandits (curse them!), giant cats, monkeys frogs and feces. No&lt;br&gt;sign of any pyramid at all.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I've also come across the remains of fellow adventurers that came before&lt;br&gt;me, their equipment strewn uselessly on the ground around their decaying&lt;br&gt;corpses. Am I to end up that way?&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;[ 13th day of the 5th month of th 436th year ]&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I saw the biggest snake of my life today. And by saw, I mean I saw it&lt;br&gt;bite me on the face and try to eat my head. I managed to beat it off with&lt;br&gt;the leg bone of a hapless adventurer who died on that very spot before me.&lt;br&gt;I ran south, always south, away from the damnable pyramid. I half wonder&lt;br&gt;if that pyramid hasn't cursed this jungle, bestowing a dark influence on&lt;br&gt;its inhabitants--making them stronger and meaner. The fauna of this &lt;br&gt;jungle&lt;br&gt;are considerably more formidable than the rest of the Tsunami Jungle that&lt;br&gt;leads here.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;[ 19th day of the 5th month of the 436th year ]&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Unsure if I will survive the day. Snake bite on my face has festered and&lt;br&gt;small worms now emerge from the wounds. I think flies have laid eggs in&lt;br&gt;me. I thought I saw my sweetheart Lucinda Belle today and reached out to&lt;br&gt;her. But it was only a chimpanzee who returned the gesture by hurling a&lt;br&gt;most foul flob of feces into my face.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I have used a smal rock to etch my memory of the maze I no doubt carved&lt;br&gt;into the jungle with my machete onto a large rock near by.
